Chen Zhao recently retired as Co-Head of Macro Research at Brandywine Global Investment Management, which manages over $70 billion in assets. Prior to joining Brandywine Global in 2015, Chen had spent 23 years working at BCA Research Group, an independent research company that specializes in top-down financial market research. As a partner, Managing Editor and Chief Global Strategist at BCA, Chen had launched the firm's China and emerging market services in the early 1990s, and directed the company's research from 2005 to 2015.

Sebastian Heilmann is the founding President of the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) in Berlin, one of the largest international think tanks on Chinese affairs, and Professor for the Political Economy of China. In addition to paying regular visits to China, Heilmann also conducted research at Harvard University’s Fairbank Center, the University of Oxford China Centre, and the Harvard-Yenching Institute.
